DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, September 17 at 2:00 PM\, the Glen Ellyn Historical Society presents historian\, actress and author Leslie Goddard and her program\, "Chicago's Lost Department Stores." The Glen Ellyn History Center is the location for this production and it is located at 800 N. Main Street. For decades\, Chicago was home to some of America's grandest department stores. Clustered along a mile-long stretch of State Street\, Marshall Field's\; Carson\, Pirie\, Scott\; Sears\; Wieboldt's\; Montgomery Ward's \; and Goldblatt's\; set the new standards for innovation\, customer service and visual display. Goddard revisits Chicago's fabulous retail emporiums and explores their rise and fall in this multi media program. Her presentation is based on her new 2022 book from History Press.
