DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, September 24\, the Glen Ellyn Historical Society provides an opportunity for visitors to experience life in the 1840'a at Stacy's Tavern Museum's Tavern Day Celebration from 1:00 to 4:30 PM. Located at 800 N. Main Street\, historic Stacy's Corners becomes a pioneer village for the entire afternoon.Try a hand at pioneer family life. Included are agriculture activities like apple peeling and vegetable gardening\; household chores like roping a bed\, doing laundry 1840's style\, chances to actually work with sawing\, shucking corn\, and braiding rope to use for chores. Farm animals and a horse are available for visitors to meet and pet\, pioneer games and an old-fashioned outdoor classroom will continue throughout the afternoon. Musicians stir up an atmosphere of good times. Stacy's Museum is open for tours throughout Tavern Day. Adults $8\, GEHS Members $6\, Children (3-17) $4\, GEHS Member children $3\, children under 3 are free. Call 630-469-1867 or check the website for information at www.glenellynhistory.org.
