Proceeds will support GECRC's efforts to empower more than 300 under-resourced children living in the greater Glen Ellyn community to realize their full potential through after-school and summer tutoring and mentoring programs.\n\nThe event is held in partnership with The Bookstore of Glen Ellyn with support from generous long-time GECRC sponsors\, Marcel's Culinary Experience\, March  and Maison\, as well as other local businesses and community partners. "We are delighted to welcome Mary Laura Philpott\, author of Bomb Shelter: Love\, Time\, and Other Explosives\, as our guest at the 2023 Literary Event\," says Janis Pfister\, GECRC Board\n\nMember and Literary Event Chair. "Bomb Shelter is a compelling and insightful memoir that The Washington Post describes as the 'perfect blend of comedy and emotion'. This book has received high praise: one of NPR's Best Books of the Year as well as on The New York Times Editor's Choice list. We are planning for an entertaining evening on April 6th." Philpott is also the nationally bestselling author of I Miss You When I Blink\; her writing has been featured by The New York Times\, The Washington Post\, and The Atlantic\, among many other publications. Mary Laura lives in Nashville\, Tennessee with her family.\n\nTickets are $75 in advance or $85 at the door\, and include light bites and two drinks. A cash bar and exciting raffle items will also be available. The event takes place Thursday\, April 6 from 6:30   9:00 pm at Glen Oak Country Club\, 21W451 Hill Ave.\, Glen Ellyn\, IL.
