SUMMARY:Glen Ellyn Non-Profit Connection Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Glen Ellyn Non-Profit Connection is a resource to connect non-profits through networking and education. Non-Profits have similar issues and struggles. Together we can make each other stronger.\n\n \n\nAt these meetings\, each organization will: \n\n	\n	Introduce themselves\, their organization and share upcoming news\, events and services. We will also discuss any struggles at our round-table at the meeting.\n	\n	\n	A 30-minute Professional Speaker will be provided on an issue directed specifically to help non-profits. \n\n - Presenter: Christina Morrison\, Director of Development West Suburban Humane Society\n\n	\n\n	Help them help you\; getting your Board comfortable with development/fundraising\n\n	Whether they are busy people\, introverts or just new to non-profit work\, Board members are volunteers who need training like everyone else. One of the largest hurdles faced by Board members is feeling comfortable talking with authority about the organization they lead and asking for donations. I'll go through a few strategies and tips that have worked for me in engaging new and busy Board members.\n\n	\n\n	Christina Morrison joined the staff of West Suburban Humane Society in March 2020 as its first full-time Director of Development after having been an active volunteer since 2009. She was on the WSHS Board of Directors\, then became a foster parent and kennel\, front desk and event volunteer. Christina has also co-chaired WSHS' building advisory group and was an active member of WSHS' capital campaign for its new Adoption Center which opened in March 2020. Christina was previously an attorney\, and for seven years\, produced a charity musical fundraiser for DuPage Legal Aid.\n\n \n	\n	\n	A Round Table of Discussion & Best Practices will follow as we will discuss the topics of struggles listed previously. Example topics: fundraising\, volunteer recruitment\, telling your story\, grant writing\, transitioning of the Board or staff\, etc. There will be years of experience and people with many talents. Together we can support each other\, foster and collaborate ideas and improve our community. \n	\n\n These meetings are open to all non-profit Chamber Members at no additional charge. We will send out emails confirming further details. Non-Chamber non-profits are encouraged to attend a meeting to be introduced to the program and GECOC membership.\n\n \n\nPlease do not hesitate to contact the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce with questions and comments.\n\n__________________________________________________________\n\n\n\nThe Non-Profit Connection meetings will be held 10:00 - 11:30am Location TBA\n\n\n\nMark your calendars:\n\n\n	\n	Wednesday\, February 16\, 2022 (Virtual) \n	\n	\n	\,Wednesday\, May 18\, 2022\n	\n	\n	Wednesday\, August 17\, 2022
