SUMMARY:GPS Presents: My Sister Liv: Private Screening and Discussion In partnership with the Glen Ellyn Public Library
DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION REQUIRED FOR THIS PRIVATE SCREENING. \n\nPlease register at https://gepl.librarycalendar.com/event/my-sister-liv-private-screening-and-discussion\n\nRegistration for this event will close on May 20\, 2023 at 2:00pm.\n\nMy Sister Liv is a powerful\, feature-length documentary exploring love\, connection\, grief and the mental health epidemic. The film is centered on sisters Tess and Liv\, who from a young age prove inseparable. As they grow\, Liv experiences the relentless pressures of social media\, teen depression\, and suicidal thoughts.\n\nMy Sister Liv is an honest and emotionally raw documentary of a young life on the edge and a big sister's desperate struggle to save her. With its fearless storytelling\, and open exploration of connection in the face of a serious mental health epidemic\, the film unpacks stigma and the aftermath for the survivors left behind in a suicide. As a family learns to cope with their new normal\, they find purpose in filling the gap where serious conversations around mental health should be\, ultimately working to save young lives.\n\nThe time to start talking about mental health is NOW. Virtually\, over Zoom in the library's meeting room\, watch the documentary film\, My Sister Liv. The film\, vetted by the Children's Hospital Colorado Pediatric Mental Health Institute to ensure the content was accurate and safe\, and in no way glorified this issue\, has been approved for youth ages 14 and up.\n\nThe private screening will be followed by a discussion with The Liv Project founders and Mental Health Director. They will discuss the importance of inspiring Fearless Conversations around mental health and facilitate a Q&A with audience members and a representative from Marvelous Mind's Glen Ellyn Youth & Family Counseling and Caring Conversations Center. For high school and older.
