SUMMARY:GPS Presents Zen Parenting: Caring for Ourselves and Our Children in an Unpredictable World
DESCRIPTION:Life is never predictable\, especially for parents. However\, if parents and caregivers navigate the uncertainty with openness\, empathy\, and humility it is possible to find the clarity\, connection\, and community that is Zen Parenting.\n\nAuthor Cathy Cassani Adams returns to GPS to discuss parenting issues such as school pressure\, self-care\, emotional intelligence\, and mental health while offering concrete examples and strategies to help everyone achieve their best life as a parent. Participants will learn to access their emotions to facilitate genuine meaningful communication and explore mindfulness and meditation.\n\nBecoming a self-aware parent isn't always easy\, but it is powerful and liberating. By developing self-understanding\, then parenting from this authentic state\, we become joyful individuals who live in a way that's true to ourselves\, focusing on how we can discover self-worth and parent in a more connected way. Children learn by watching how we live\, not by listening to what we say. Here is a calmer\, more self-aware parenting approach for parents and caregivers to effectively support their children while establishing a sense of self.\n\nCathy Cassani Adams\, LCSW\, CPC\, CYT\, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who teaches in the Sociology Department at Dominican University and Elmhurst College.
