DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, October 16 at 7:30 PM\, the Glen Ellyn Historical Society presents a program featuring Dr. David Maas\, Professor Emeritus of History at Wheaton College and author of the book\, Marching to the Drumbeat of Abolition: Wheaton College in the Civil War. \n\n\n\nThe program is at the Glen Ellyn History Center\, 800 N. Main Street and is free to the public.  \n\n\n\nThis event is a continuing effort to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.  Starting with the broad background of the Civil War\, Dr. Maas will  shift to a close examination of the response in DuPage County\, and end with the stories of a few Glen Ellyn families caught in the vortex of war.  The lecture will last approximately 45 minutes and be followed by a question and answer session.Salt Creek War Roundtable is sponsoring this event.\n\n\n\nThe Annual Civil War Book Sale begins at 6:30 PM.  Come early and shop at the Civil War Book Sale. All proceeds from the book sale go to Battlefield Preservation.\n\n\n\nCall 630-469-1867 for information.
