Description
Summer isn’t over yet! The Glen Ellyn Backyard BBQ (GEBYBBQ) returns for its 15th year on Saturday, September 9th. The GEBYBBQ will welcome amateur BBQ enthusiasts to compete in the categories of Best Ribs, Best Chicken, Best Dish, and Best Sauce. After you have some delicious BBQ from one of our vendors, walk on over to the competition to vote for your favorite BBQ sauce from our competitors and get tips from the home-chef pros. Plenty of great vendors, including Dan’s Foods, Steamboat BBQ, Kissed by Fire, Savory Crust, and Famous Dave’s BBQ, will be there offering various kinds of BBQ, burgers, hot dogs, Nothin’ Bundt Cakes, Two Brothers Brewing cold beer and more. There will be activities for the entire family, including Piglet Playland with host Mary Macaroni, children’s enthusiast, along with mural painting, bounce houses, and delicious treats for the kids. You'll hear live music from some of the best bands in the area, including Ralph Covert of The Bad Examples, Panic at the Costco, and more. “The BBQ is thrilled to welcome some terrific bands like Libido Fund Circus, and one of our favorite local bands, EP8,” says Bridge Communities Chief Executive Officer, Amy Van Polen. Last, but not least, there will also be raffle prizes! “In 14 years, we have gone from a neighborhood barbeque to one of the most anticipated events in Glen Ellyn and raised over $400,000 to help families facing homelessness in DuPage County,” says GEBYBBQ co-chair Rani McKee. “BBQ, bands, and beer, what's not to like? We have something for everyone; Awesome BBQ, great bands, super fun kids play area, beer and the largest amateur BBQ contest in the State of Illinois.” The GEBYBBQ is open to the public from 2:00pm – 9:30pm on Saturday, September 9th and is located in a new location at the Metra Parking Lot at Lorraine/Duane Avenues (just west of the Glen Ellyn Public Library) in downtown Glen Ellyn.
