Sunday, September 24, the Glen Ellyn Historical Society provides an opportunity for visitors to experience life in the 1840'a at Stacy's Tavern Museum's Tavern Day Celebration from 1:00 to 4:30 PM. Located at 800 N. Main Street. Historic Stacy's Corners becomes a pioneer village for the entire afternoon. Try a hand at pioneer family life. Included are agriculture activities like apple peeling and vegetable gardening; household chores like roping a bed, doing laundry 1840's style, chances to actually work with sawing, shucking corn, and braiding rope to use for chores. We also have a black smith demonstrating the process he goes through to make horse shoes, etc. Farm animals and a horse are available for visitors to meet and pet, pioneer games and an old-fashioned outdoor classroom will continue throughout the afternoon. Musicians stir up an atmosphere of good times. Stacy's Museum is open for tours throughout Tavern Day.
