Participants will learn a framework for excellence, and the practical strategies for building children’s growth in their identity and intellectual development. Discover free and practical resources, literacy strategies and activities to build competence, connection, and achievement. The goal is to help youth thrive and see the joy in themselves and others.
Dr. Gholdy Muhammad is a highly acclaimed, award-winning Associate Professor of Language and Literacy at University of Illinois — Chicago. Dr. Muhammad is the 2014 recipient of the National Council of Teachers of English, Promising New Researcher Award, the 2015 NCTE Alan C. Purves Award, the 2016 NCTE CEE Janet Emig awardee, and the 2017 Georgia State University Urban Education Research Awardee. Her highly acclaimed book Cultivating Genius: An Equity Framework for Culturally and Historically Responsive Literacy was released in 2020.
