Description
Tavern Day Is the Chance to Experience the Life of a Pioneer
Sunday, September 25, between 1:00 P.M. and 4:30 P.M., historic Stacy’s Corners will become a bustling social center of the middle 1800’s. Included in the activities during the afternoon are blacksmith demonstrations, the chance to participate in an acutal 1840’s school room with an authentic one room school house teacher, rope making, log sawing, candle dipping, corn shelling, and pioneer crafts. Live farm animals, cow milking, fresh milk sampling, bee keeping and the story of honey are all included.
The Bake Sale is an Apple and Fruit Festival featuring homemade pies, cakes, cookies, fruit crisps and other harvest specialties. Chrysanthemum plants are for sale at $10 a plant. Uncle Dan the Story Telling Man is under the tree ready to spin a tale, yarn or scary story.
Tavern Day 2011 is sponsored by Glen Ellyn Bank and Trust, a branch of Wheaton Bank and Trust Company.
