Art Studio Technician

We seek a passionate and motivated Art Studio Technician to join our creative team. As an Art Studio Technician, you will work closely with experienced artists and staff, assisting with various aspects of studio operations and gaining insight into creating art.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Studio Assistance: Support artists and staff in day-to-day studio operations, including organizing materials, preparing workspaces, and assisting with project and event setup and cleanup.
  2. Artistic Support: Assist artists with various tasks related to their projects, such as gathering materials and tools.
  3. Administrative Tasks: Tag our studio students' work and learn how to load kilns to fuse glass.
  4. Customer Service: Interact with studio visitors and clients professionally, providing information about the studio's offerings and assisting with sales transactions if needed.
  5. Creative Input: Contribute ideas and insights to brainstorming sessions and collaborative projects, offering the team a fresh perspective and creative input.
  6. Learning and Development: Take advantage of opportunities to learn new artistic techniques and skills through workshops, demonstrations, and mentorship from experienced artists.
  7. Special Projects: Assist with special projects and events, such as exhibitions, workshops, and community outreach programs, as needed.
  8. Studio Maintenance: Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe studio environment by following established protocols for cleaning, storage, and equipment maintenance.
  9. Professional Development: Take initiative in seeking opportunities for professional development and growth, such as attending art-related events and networking with other artists and professionals in the field.
  10. Adaptability: Be willing to assist with various tasks and projects as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn new skills. Interns will help our professional glass artists with classes and assist students. This is an excellent opportunity to learn a new art form and be a part of a new studio in the Glen Ellyn area!
 
Required Qualifications:
  1. Passion for art and a desire to learn and grow in a creative environment.
  2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and willingness to collaborate.
  3. Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions carefully.
  4. Basic knowledge of art materials and techniques, with a willingness to learn and improve.
  5. Reliable and punctual, able to commit to a consistent or flexible schedule.
  6. Enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university program in art, design, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  7. Prior experience in a studio or art-related environment is a plus but not mandatory.
  8. Ability to lift and carry art supplies and equipment as needed.
