- Weekdays: 8am–12pm, 12pm–5pm, 5pm–11pm
- Weekends: 7a-12p, 12p-5p, and 5p-11p
- Availability may include morning, daytime, evening, weekend, and holidays.
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction and supervision of facility management staff, the Ackerman SFC Facility Custodian is responsible for providing quality customer service by ensuring the safety of members and guests through maintenance and thorough cleaning of the facility.
General custodial duties include but are not limited to: gymnasium, indoor turf, gymnastics center areas, bathrooms, locker rooms, office spaces hallways, common areas.
Additional fitness custodial duties include but are not limited to: fitness center floor and equipment, all studio spaces, bathrooms, walking track, office spaces, hallways, common areas, WDSRA room, washing/drying/folding towels.
Must be team-oriented and this is an at-will position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cleaning and disinfecting gymnasium, indoor turf, gymnastics, fitness areas, equipment, hallways, all studio spaces, restrooms, locker rooms, program rooms, and common areas.
- Washing, drying, and folding towels.
- Maintaining clean and tidy exercise equipment.
- Cleaning floors, windows, doors, and high-touch surfaces.
- Removing trash and recycling.
- Room setup and take-down for programs and rentals.
- Light maintenance as able.
- Locking and securing the facility when assigned.
- Assisting with snow removal outdoors.
- Reporting any safety, maintenance, or security concerns to management.
- Additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- The ideal candidate will be reliable, self-motivated, and have a strong sense of customer service and safety.
- Indicate any previous experience that is required or preferred. (some examples below)
- Effective communication and customer service skills with ability to interact well with staff and the public both verbally and in writing, with tact and diplomacy.
- Accuracy and the ability to follow through on detailed work.
- Effective organizational skills, time management, and the ability to shift tasks are essential.
- Previous experience in a fitness environment is highly desired, with prior customer service experience also helpful.
- Previous experience in custodial work and knowledge of mixing cleaning solutions is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
- Able to effectively communicate with supervisors and other staff as well as the public and provide quality customer service.
- Possess good problem-solving skills and have the capacity to act rationally and calmly in high stress and/or emergency situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, moving, and walking upstairs to perform various cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Perform repetitive hand and arm movements for extended periods of time while performing various tasks.
- May be exposed to noise distractions from employees or equipment operation in adjacent work areas.
- Ability to regularly lift, push, move, or carry 25 pounds or more in tools, equipment, and other supplies.
- Bending, twisting, lunging, crouching, kneeling, and reaching while performing tasks in the field and/or obtaining items off the ground, shelves, etc.
- Capacity to safely operate a motor vehicle to various sites to perform job duties, attend meetings, trainings, etc. and perform vehicle pre-check and observe rules of the road.
- Employee’s general work area indoors is a smoke-free environment with controlled temperature and fluorescent or other types of lighting.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes or airborne particles, grease, dirt, cleaning solvents, etc.
- Regular outdoor work is required in various weather conditions including heat, humidity, wind, rain and cold, or indoors in a smoke-free environment with controlled temperature and fluorescent, or other types of lighting.
